Since the development of online recruitment software, we have seen a difference in the core skills of recruiters. In the past, when the recruitment process was more administrative, the best recruiters were invariably those that managed themselves in the most efficient manner. That meant careful management of calls, word documents, excel spread sheets etc. The management came in the initial stages, whereas now software automatically manages all of the activities in this particular area.
Software allows recruiters to now begin their work from the point of examining only the strongest candidates. It means that they focus on interviewing skills, and evaluation of each candidate’s qualities. This is really a major change for recruiters, and we have seen older professionals struggle to adapt to this. It has also highlighted that many were not as suited to recruitment as they may have thought. Just because people could organise well, they may not have been suited to interviewing.
